The Oracle is nearing her planned obsolescence and she is bitter about it. She reveals that her precognitive abilities are fading just as Neo’s are beginning to burgeon. Neo travels to see the Oracle to see how they are planning to attack. News is received that the machines are about to destroy Zion. Growing increasingly more worried and alienated as they see the saviour of the human race become less.human.Īnyway after the Zion sequences the events follow broadly the same path. Neo was there as the shallow viewpoint character for the two real leads: Morpheus, the hopeful puppy-dog disciple hiding behind the veneer of the bad-ass wise mentor figure and Trinity, the stone-cold killing machine facade disguising the frightened young woman who is dragged along helplessly by destiny. They basically already were in the original movie. Morpheus and Trinity should be the Protagonists Not a good a protagonist though which is why. Just as he rises above humans, his bonds with his average mortals should be shorn away as he forgets what it's like to be afraid, to be hungry, to be angry, ignorant or in love. He has transcended wisdom and moved into creepy The Shining territory. So why is he such a generic average schlub? Neo shouldn't be relatable, he should subtly scary, terrifying. He is Buddha, he is Jesus, he is become Death Destroyer of Worlds. Neo’s main struggle through the sequels is discovering what his limitations actually are. #DIGITAL SENTIENCE THE MATRIX CODE#By Reloaded, Neo should be able to rewrite the Matrixes' code at will: think Captain Manhattan. He's not an eastern transcendent sensei anymore he's just a superhero with a collection of random superpowers. #DIGITAL SENTIENCE THE MATRIX MOVIE#Clearly he is on the beginning of an astonishing cosmic journey that will allow him to trancend the Matrix itself.except we see him in the next movie block bullets, kung-fu an Agent and fly up into the air. We see Neo at the end of the First Movie block bullets, kung-fu an Agent and fly up into the air. Make Neo's powers more metaphysical and 'cosmic' and less 'comic-bookey' #DIGITAL SENTIENCE THE MATRIX FREE#Perhaps a scene where Agent Smith tries to rejoin the Agents, revealing he in fact finds the burden of Free Will intolerable. More should be played up of the fact that he is an exile from the Machines. His motivation is flattened into "muahahaha take over ze world!" He seems pleased to have free will but uses it for the most basic villain stuff. Instead he's like a bad disney villain who shows up for the direct-to-video sequels. Make Agent Smith a more three-dimensional characterĪgent Smith could have been a really interesting character. Why can't we see Moscow, Rio, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris? Why can't the keymaker send the characters on a kaleidoscopic globe-trotting adventure? It should be an endless siren call pulling the characters back into its twisted lie. Is the Matrix supposed to be our earth or is it all just one massive drab grey urban sprawl? If Neo is supposed to sacrificing himself for all the blue_pills why do they all act like depressed background characters from a Dilbert Cartoon? The Matrix should be brighter, funner, more vibrant than real life. Also instead of Aliens-style walkers, Zion’s main defence is just a massive steel door welded shut against Squiddies. You can tell Neo in particular is uncomfortable being there, anxiously counting down the hours til he can return to the Matrix and exercise his abilities. Life in Zion is militaristic with little in the way of creature comforts. The redux film would only have a short few minutes of the film set in Zion. Everything in the storyline was cliched and uninteresting. Matrix is Cyberpunk, not Starship Troopers/Independence Day. The bits set in the City of Zion simply did not belong in the movie. WARNING THIS WILL MAKE NO SENSE IF YOU ONLY HAVE A PASSING FAMILIARITY WITH THE MATRIX SEQUELSĪnyway this will posit a redux Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions, only what I would have done differently: ![]()
